Cleaning up after dumpers

The Okanagan Forest Task Force isn’t just a Facebook page where people lay out their complaints, those who belong to the group actually get the job done. Lead by organizer Kane Blake, volunteers will once again head into the back-country of the Okanagan and clean up after those who, for some reason, have decided to turn the woods into a landfill. Garbage Be Gone

Dozens of people turned out for a massive clean up at what is considered the Okanagan’s own war zone. Nicknamed Little Iraq, the area of Postill Lake Road in Ellison has been used as an illegal dump site for far too long, but thanks to some good Samaritans the area is now in much better shape. This past Saturday, locals turned out in high spirits with rakes and shovels to pick-up everything from shotgun shells, to paper targets, to plastic bottles.
